The EASE Cancer Foundation Benefit Concert
Linda Waterfall, Seattle composer/singer-songwriter
NW Public Radio "Inland Folk" Host Dan Maher
Hailed by the Seattle Times as “Seattle’s Top Singer/Songwriter”, Linda
Waterfall has been a star in the Northwest music scene since 1977, when the
first of her nine recordings was released by Windham Hill Records. Waterfall
has toured all over the U.S. Her performances combine the intimacy of a folk
performance with the high energy of the rock and roll tavern scene, of which
she was an active player in the early ‘80s, both with her own band and as the
bass player in the Skyboys.
Dan Maher, a longtime friend of Linda’s, has often been called an encyclopedia of folk music.
He has been hosting the Inland Folk Show, Sundays on NW Public Radio, for close to twenty-five
years. He's
also a thrilling, dynamic performer who had the Folklife Festival audience of 2006 jumping to
their feet and hollering for more.
And the icing on the cake -- this wonderful night of music is a benefit for the EASE Cancer Foundation,
a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to providing innovative educational programs
for cancer survivors and enhancing cancer services in rural communities. EASE is the acronym for
exercise and survivorship education. Their primary goal, through life style modifications, is to
improve quality of life and reduce the risk of cancer reoccurrence in cancer survivors
“Linda Waterfall, an extraordinary folk musician from Washington State, plays bristling, driving
guitar and rolling, enveloping piano. If all that weren’t enough, Ms. Waterfall is a moving,
terrific singer,
blessed with star-of-the-choir pipes.”
--Tom Surowicz, Twin Cities Reader, Minnesota
"Linda Waterfall nearly stole the show with her infectiously joyful anthem 'Love Out of Nowhere', and a
hilarious satire of a redneck whose sexist posturing suddenly dissolves into new age psycho-speak."
--Scott Alarik, Boston Globe
